Chiang Mai and TAT collaborate for “Namthip Pi Mai Meuang Chiang Mai 2567” event to revive Lanna traditions. We warmly welcome visitors to partake in activities designed to enrich the auspiciousness of this year’s Songkran festival.

In April 2567, Chiang Mai hosts the “Pawa Wenee Pi Mai Meuang Chiang Mai, Million Songkran” event for 21 days.Additionally, TAT will organize the “Sueb Hit, San Hoy, Yon Roy Pi Mai Meuang” event from April 6-8, 2567, inviting tourists to relish the ambiance with evening lights, traditional northern Thai cuisine, music performances, and cultural exhibitions at Wat Chedi Liam, Chiang Mai province.

After UNESCO listed Thailand’s Songkran tradition, TAT aimed to develop Pi Mai Meuang Chiang Mai tradition, a Soft Power festival.Therefore, organizers have arranged the “Namthip Pi Mai Meuang Chiang Mai 2567” event for the fourth consecutive year, with the dedication to reviving the ancient Lanna ceremony of crafting Namthip water.This initiative aims to preserve the tradition for future generations while providing enriching and meaningful experiences for tourists. The “Instant Happiness, Travel Thailand” campaign encourages travelers to explore the marvels of Thailand year-round.

The “Namthip Pi Mai Meuang Chiang Mai 2567” festivities, from April 4-16, 2567, will draw water from nine sources.

On April 12, 2567, a procession will invite Namthip water for Buddha image worship before the “Million Songkran” festival. Attendees parade Buddha images from Lai Kham Hall at Wat Phra Singh Waramahavihan. Subsequently, on April 16, the “Saraka Loi Dam Hua Po Mueang Chiang Mai” procession blesses water.
